Pure Sound Project

While we’re a magazine, we get that the process of reading can be a challenge for us all from time to time. We also get that stories of mental health can be communicated in loads of ways other than the written word.

Pure Sound Project is a platform where anyone can upload their own or others’ stories of mental health in the form of song, comedy, film trailers, spoken-word, etc. The materials don’t necessarily have to be about mental health in a direct sense - perhaps you’d like to share something that saw you through a difficult headspace?

‘I would like to recommend a TV series (it's on Netflix in its entirety but I've added a link to the season 1 trailer). ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ is a musical drama following Rebecca Bunch who (spoiler warning) suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). In the early seasons we don't know this and neither does Rebecca - we get to see the world through her lens as she struggles with the undiagnosed condition, and through suicidal attempts (trigger warning) and diagnosis. I found the music and story really helpful as I was going through getting a similar diagnosis at the time. I found it to be an accurate portrayal of a condition that is often very misrepresented.’
